Miguel Could Actually Be More Likable than Kevin.
The “This Is Us” lovers are starting to feel like Miguel is starting to grow on them, something that they thought they would never feel. This is however the case as in (Season 2, Episode 11) where the Pearson clan is sitting in a circle, looking all uncomfortable as an addiction specialist guides kelvin towards opening up a group dialogue. On a normal occasion, this would be a family gathering at one of the Pearson’s lavishing homes.
This therapy is a result of the spiraling alcohol addicted to both pain killers and fame Kevin deciding to embark on a fast-speed highway drive with Tess, Beth and Randal’s young daughter, at the back seat. It was possible for the writers to make that an accident with Tess gone but they somehow knew that we would not take it. Tess’s parents had just been through a heartbreak of having to re-unite their foster daughter to her biological mom and that meant that Tess is all they had.
This is probably why a cop pulled him up and when we see him again, he had been at the rehab for three months trying to fix the damage he had done to himself and the people that loved him.
This is what leads us to this Pearson’s family thing that Miguel, Beth and Toby are not invited. They go to a bar for the whole afternoon which Toby thinks is not right given the circumstances. It is during this session that we learn that Kevin feels ousted by the family. Given the fact that everyone in dealing with one thing or the other, he is left to feel as a third wheel that he says lead s to him seek for the attention and admiration room the media that he never got as a youth.
Basically, the basic law of attraction is what is at play here as Kevin is looking for what he never got to fill in the void but it never does. Miguel, the new one to the group is married to his best friend’s wife although he is all sweet to the Pearson’s family. The wife of Jack Pearson who is a “no fly zone” for everyone. Miguel knows his place which he is okay with and knows that to change it, it would require the reversal of the very fabric that weaves together the Pearson just like Kelvin. The only difference is that unless Kevin makes amends and heals , he will keep unraveling it but Miguel on the other hand may be what the family needs to get back together.
